Over the past decade of my life I have gone through challenges and struggles that have left me with trauma that have changed the way I navigate the world. Throughout all of my circumstances, I have always turned to art as an expressive outlet for relief and purpose. Over the summer of 2022 I looked back on all the art I had made and been collecting on my shelf and realized that I had unknowingly written my story into my art. The process of making art involves me engaging with my subconscious and expressing my emotions through the medium and process I was doing. I looked back on all of what I had made and found the narrative that I subconsciously woven through it all.
Over the course of 2 years I curated my collection and wrote my story. I wrote poetry for each piece of art and ordered them in sequence. The collection is 216 pieces of collage, prints and paintings. The story is about grief. Each piece depicts the emotional landscape of loss and the powerlessness of suffering. It walks through the stages of grief and the onset of an ego death and then follows steps it takes to find healing on the other side of it.
