Collage

Collage is about recycling, taking something that already exists and reimagining it with new purpose. Nothing goes to waste. Collage is a spiritual practice for me as it challenges artists to use the resources that are around them and find inspiration out of the leftovers. Recycling is about responsibility for our waste and within art I think it is vital for the artist to consider how every resource can be utilized. There is power in art when you create something that didn’t exist before but there is also power in redemption of things destined for the landfill. Collage refines your imagination as you hone your skill to be curious about potential. I think it is a fundamental principle within my artistic approach to balance my ability as a human to create and innovate with my limitations of resources and energy. Collage challenges me to find humility in my life as I am not the ordainer of all things and I often find myself short of resources. How can I make the something good out of what I have?
